  1. This whole problem would be easily solved across all the trades with one simple act of parliament. Give Trades protected status like architect, chartered accountant where it would be illegal to use the tittle unless you can prove a full apprenticeship served with continued CPD, each trades person would then be licenced including brick layers, roofers, plasters, joiners, plumbers, Electrican’s and the end user knows what they are getting and what standard.
    Should any be cowboys cancel the licence. Non trade people then have to call themselves handy men and the end user will know what they are getting. It would make it allot easier for Trading Standard to deal with the bodging brigade.
