227 Vans, 14,060 miles and 5,421 biscuits

VanExperience LIVE 2014, which closed its doors on Friday after two weeks at Prodrive in Warwickshire, welcomed around 1,800 guests, who drove more than 14,060 miles in almost 80 vans – the equivalent of 390.6 miles covered every hour!

The impressive event centred around a total of 2,125 m2 of temporary structures, which took 168 hours to put up, and offered attendees the chance to experience four practical activities; This Is Your Life – simulated black ice driving, Safety Aware – Adaptive ESP® and Collision Prevention Assist testing , Fuel For Thought – a competitive mpg challenge, and Traction Control – off-road vehicle handling.

As part of the event, which is now in its 11th year, invited van operators, across a wide variety of business sectors, were also treated to a full display of 227 vehicles including vans from 42 body builder and conversion partners, with Mercedes-Benz Vans experts on-hand to discuss Financial Services, Insurance, Approved Used and Service & Parts.
Paul Mercer, a Director of Bury St Edmunds-based vehicle broker Merbury Management, was among the guests attending VanExperience Live for the first time. He commented: “It’s been a fantastic day; staging an event as big and as varied as this must take a huge amount of organisation but everything ran so smoothly.

“It was great fun, and very entertaining, but I also learned a lot. The fuel economy performance of the Citan I drove was very impressive, but even more remarkable was the demonstration of all the various safety systems that Mercedes-Benz has developed for its vans. Having seen them in action, side by side with vehicles from other manufacturers, I can definitely say these are the safest vans on the road.”
