City & Guilds gear up for the Green Deal

The City & Guilds Level 3 Awards in Installation and Maintenance of Environmental Technologies are being hailed as ‘the qualification of choice’ for those who want to take part in the Green Deal and Domestic Renewable Heat Incentive (RHI) schemes.
The qualifications are aimed at those already working in the industry and offer learners the chance to develop their skills to a high standard recognised by the Microgeneration Certification Scheme (MCS). The nine awards available demonstrate the competence and knowledge of the installation of environmental technologies in residential properties. Subjects include:
•    Understanding the Fundamental Principles and Requirements of Environmental Technologies
•    Solar Photovoltaic
•    Solar Thermal
•    Biomass
•    Heat Pumps
•    Rainwater Harvesting Technologies
John Thompson, Chief Executive, APHC commented: “The City & Guilds environmental qualifications are a fantastic starting point for those who want to upskill to be able to take part in the Green Deal and domestic RHI, once the schemes are live next year. I would recommend installers consider these qualifications as they provide learners with all the tools to compete in the emerging domestic renewables market.”
Matt Lardi, Lead Portfolio Manager, City & Guilds commented: “At City & Guilds, we’re committed to providing people with the skills they need to progress in their careers. Following the downturn in the economy and loss of employment opportunities, many are looking to diversify into the fast-growing sector of renewable technologies. Our 2399 qualification will equip learners with all the tools they need to compete in the renewables arena and also take part in the Green Deal scheme.”
