City & Guilds Intelligent Building Control Systems courses

short courses for plumbers and electricians, aimed at the Smart Homes and Intelligent Building Control Systems market

City & Guilds, City College Plymouth and world leading engineering firm ABB have come together to introduce a series of short courses for plumbers and electricians, aimed at the Smart Homes and Intelligent Building Control Systems market.
Plumbers and electricians attending these new courses will be able to familiarise themselves with the KNX standard, and understand how these systems are changing the manufacture and installation of technologies in the home. The courses are designed specifically to help learners familiarise themselves with the KNX Standard, the worldwide market leader for home and building control. The course will initially be delivered at the ABB Energy Centre at City College Plymouth.
John Thompson, commented: “City & Guilds has responded to a growing area of need in the marketplace with this course. There has been a great expansion in the smart homes market in recent years with new products such as TRV’s leading to the increase in sales. These new courses will help installers understand how these new products will interact together and how they can be used efficiently in different settings.”
Matt Simmons, Portfolio Manager at City & Guilds added: “This is an exciting opportunity for City & Guilds to work with a large centre in the South-West of the country, to deliver a qualification at the cutting-edge of technology. After the initial period working with City College Plymouth, we hope in the longer term to open up this qualification to all plumbers and electricians studying around the country.”
City College Plymouth will begin rolling out the qualification in the summer of 2013 and will be offering businesses the opportunity to up skill their workforce in the growth of renewable energy and ensuring students leave the College being industry ready.
