City & Guilds will be launching new Level 1 qualifications

APHC Ltd.

City & Guilds will be launching two new Level 1 qualifications on the Qualifications Credit Framework on 2nd September 2013. These new qualifications will be aimed at those learners who are considering a career in the plumbing or electro-technical industry and will give them the opportunity to try a variety of tasks within this basic skills qualification.
The new level 1 qualifications are suitable for individuals of any age wanting an introduction to roles within the plumbing or electro-technical industry, or for learners interested in learning more about jobs in the building services engineering arena. Learners don’t need any experience – they just need to be serious about having a go and seeing if plumbing or electrical installation is the right career for them. The two new qualifications are titled:
Level 1 Diploma in plumbing studies
Level 1 Diploma in electrical installation
John Thompson, Chief Executive of APHC Ltd. said:
“The plumbing course has been designed as a taster award and is  a welcome addition to the City & Guilds  portfolio. It  will help learners try out some of the basic skills involved in plumbing before deciding a particular career path in the plumbing industry is for them before
Chris Bailey, Portfolio Manager for City & Guilds, added:
“We have received a number of enquiries from our centres for both Level 1 Plumbing and Electrical qualifications for those learners who want to learn either basic plumbing or electrical skills but who do not yet meet the entry requirements in order to study our Level 2 & 3 Plumbing and Electrical qualifications.  This allows them an entry point into the plumbing or electro-technical industry and gives them the opportunity to progress onwards and upwards in their chosen career.
City & Guilds will be hosting an online webinar during July 2013, during which they will showcase the assignments in more detail and answer any queries people have regarding the new qualifications. If you would like to take part in this webinar or would just like more information about this new course please contact Chris Bailey (Portfolio Manager) via email on: chris.bailey@cityandguilds.com
Further details about the new qualifications will be made available on the City & Guilds website during the summer months. For more information about existing qualifications please visit www.cityandguilds.com or call the advice line on 0844 543 0000.
