Daikin has launched a new all-in-one heat pump system – the manufacturer’s smallest unit yet.
The Altherma 3 Monobloc air-to-water heat pump provides efficient and sustainable heating technology in a compact and versatile solution for homes of all sizes.
The new smaller system means homeowners no longer have to trade precious space in their homes for improved environmental sustainability.
The Altherma 3 Monobloc is ideal for any property where space is at a premium, fitting to the outside of a wide range of housing types and requiring no indoor unit.
The new unit maximises space in the home, while also offering significant savings over traditional heating systems due to its high efficiency and low running costs. For example, the average UK household can save up to £378 on heating bills each year compared with a gas boiler.
The new outdoor unit is specifically designed to improve airflow, cutting down on unwanted noise. Its concealed high-performance single fan blade makes the unit much quieter than conventional double fan heat pumps at just 62dBA.
Homeowners can monitor energy consumption and easily control the performance of their Monobloc using the Daikin Residential Controller App, and through Google Assistant or Amazon Alexa.
The single unit makes for fast and simple installation, which doesn’t require F-Gas qualification to install, perfect for installers looking to increase the range of space-efficient solutions they can offer. As there is no indoor unit or F-Gas connection to be completed, the Monobloc system installation can be a quicker and easier when compared to a multi-unit system.
Iain Bevan, Commercial Manager of Heating & Renewables at Daikin UK, said: “More and more homeowners are looking to make the switch to low-carbon heating technology but don’t want to compromise on space in their home.
“Our new system is the perfect small and powerful, yet quiet solution for homes of all sizes.
“As more people look to switch to an eco-heating option, the ability to understand these systems and talk to homeowners about the best solution for them is a necessity.
“We’re helping installers navigate the changes and capitalise on the opportunities our sector is experiencing, by offering free training to build your knowledge of our heat pump systems as part of our Sustainable Home Network.”
The unit comes in 4 different capacity ranges 9, 11, 14 and 16 class, which are suitable for homes of various sizes, from a two-bedroom terraced to a four-bedroom detached home.
The heat pump system uses a new R32 refrigerant which requires 30% less refrigerant charge than a R410A equivalent unit and achieves 75% lower CO2 emissions than previous Monobloc units, lowering its environmental impact.
Suitable for all climates, the unit can withstand severe winter conditions, with an operational range of -25°C to 60°C.
The Daikin Altherma 3 Monobloc has an average life span of up to 15 years, compared to 13* years for a traditional gas boiler and provides a safer living environment by eliminating the need for gas and oil within the home.
