Knipex produces new video that shows how to look after VDE tools

Regularly maintaining VDE tools makes a real difference and a few simple checks can help them work properly, last longer and stay safe to use. To show how straightforward it can be, KNIPEX has produced a short video demonstrating how to care for VDE pliers in day-to-day use.

The Knipex Diagonal Cutter VDE, featured in the video, is a good example. Designed for everyday electrical work, its narrow head makes it ideal for confined spaces such as junction boxes and distribution boards, while its long cutting edges allow even fine-stranded conductors to be cut cleanly right to the tip. However, even a well-made tool needs the right care to keep performing at its best and for VDE tools in particular, regular checks are essential to maintain both performance and safety.

Keeping tools in good condition doesn’t need to be complicated. As shown in the Knipex video, simply wiping tools down after use, drying them carefully and applying a light layer of oil helps protect against moisture and corrosion. Adding a small drop of lubricant to the joint keeps the action smooth and reduces wear over time and checking the insulation on the handles regularly will ensure they stay safe to use and compliant for electrical work.

David Barnes, Marketing Manager at Knipex, said:

“Looking after your VDE tools doesn’t take long but it makes a big difference. A few simple steps can help keep cutters performing as they should, extend their working life and ensure they remain safe and reliable on-site.”
