Specialised UK electric vehicle charging distributor Volta EV has today confirmed that the popular waEV-charge EV1 range is now fully integrated with Octopus Energy’s flagship Intelligent Octopus Go tariff.
The software integration enables a direct cloud-to-cloud link between the waEV-charge hardware and Octopus’s Kraken platform. For end-users, this unlocks the UK’s most competitive domestic EV charging rate of just 8p/kWh, allowing the system to automatically schedule optimisation windows based on live grid demand and low carbon intensity.
To celebrate the rollout, Volta EV is supporting trade partners with a summer incentive: customers who purchase a new waEV-charge EV1s or EV1i unit and switch to Intelligent Octopus Go before 1st September 2026 will receive a £50 direct bill credit, equivalent to roughly 2,000 miles of free driving.
Streamlining the Installer Workflow
For electrical contractors and renewable energy installers, the hardware upgrade solves a major headache in the residential market. Customers increasingly demand chargers that work natively with automated smart tariffs, yet complex firmware pairings often lead to post-installation support callbacks.
