ElectricSafe campaign reaches over half a million consumers

The ElectricSafe Register, a new brand and consumer search facility set break new ground in domestic electrical safety, has already seen promotion to over half a million potential consumers throughout the UK.
ElectricSafe was first launched by NAPIT in November 2012 to make homeowners, landlords and tenants aware of the importance of hiring a competent, registered electrician. Since then, the new Register has gained significant media coverage across the country.
NAPIT CEO and founder of ElectricSafe, John Andrews, has recently completed a whistle-stop tour of local radio stations across the country – designed to raise awareness of electrical safety and promote the importance of hiring a competent electrician.
The campaign – which announced the launch of the Register and explained how it could help householders find a reputable installer – has now reached over 29 local radio stations across the UK, with a total estimated listenership of more than 580,000 people.
In mid December, ElectricSafe also gained targeted air time on LetYourProperty.TV, a resource designed specifically for UK landlords. The show saw Technical Director, Frank Bertie, interviewed by well-known TV gardener and DIY expert, Tommy Walsh. Frank emphasised the importance of electrical safety at Christmas and explained that the ElectricSafe Register was an important resource consumers could use ensure the electrical work in their homes was carried out safely.
The Register has also gained prominent industry supporters. TrustMark – a not-for-profit organisation, licensed by Government and supported by consumer protection groups – have expressed their support for the ElectricSafe Register.
In response to news of the Register’s Launch, TrustMark Chairman, Liz Male said: “We welcome all initiatives that give publicity to TrustMark registered firms and signpost consumers to the good firms. The ElectricSafe register is another development in the industry that will provide guidance and support to homeowners wanting to hire professional, registered electricians.”
“Together we must drive for higher standards, greater consumer empowerment and recognition of reputable firms.”
The coverage and support already gained by the Register represent a promising move towards better consumer awareness but, far from complacent, ElectricSafe continues to strive for new, innovative ways to generate greater public understanding and make a truly lasting impression on electrical safety in the UK.
