We found out about the powerful new cleaner from Fernox, designed to tackle heavily contaminated systems in a single dose. In another session, we explore the vital role that testing plays in central heating system maintenance. And during the first ever InstallerFESTIVAL, Fernox discussed the risks of Legionella after lockdown. All the sessions are available to watch on demand – scroll down and view at your leisure: Introducing the latest chemical treatment from Fernox Fernox Power Cleaner F8 is an effective, citric acid-based cleaner formulated to remove corrosion, scale and other debris in heavily contaminated, sludged central heating systems; to restore and maintain optimum efficiency and reduce the risk of breakdown. Fast-acting, this new heavy-duty, powerful cleaner includes a high concentration of key active ingredients, meaning just one, easy to use 500ml bottle can tackle even the dirtiest central heating systems in over 97% of UK homes. To explain more about the product, Anna Tarbuck, Research and Product Technologies Director at Fernox, took part in a Q&A. She explained what makes Power Cleaner F8 such a powerful cleaning product, where it sits within the Fernox range, and ran through the quick and simple dosing process. During the Q&A, there was also a guest appearance from a leading heating engineer who has recently trialed the new product, providing honest feedback on Power Cleaner F8 – including how easy it is to use and its overall performance. Watch here: Your Guide to System Testing with Fernox Fernox explored the vital role that testing plays in central heating system maintenance and the new technology products that can help ease the job of the installer. Inhibitor levels should be regularly checked throughout the lifecycle of a system, to ensure that it remains fully protected. Conducting regular central heating system tests is also key to identifying and rectifying any issues early on and maintaining system health and efficiency. BS 7593:2019 recommends completing on-site analysis of the system water annually and either re-dosing with inhibitor or conducting a full laboratory analysis of the system water (and re-dosing with inhibitor if required) every five years. During the Q&A, Fernox explained more about the range of testing products, developed to achieve accurate results effortlessly – from simple to use kits such as the Universal Test Kit (for annual on-site testing) to the Water Quality Test Kit and App (for laboratory testing). Fernox also provided a sneak preview of the company’s latest testing product – a new on-site dip test designed to make the process even easier. Watch here: Legionella after lockdown: discuss the risks with Fernox Head of Chemistry at Fernox, Richard Crisp, explained more about the risk of microbiological contamination in unused premises during lockdown, and crucially, how you can prevent it through effective water treatment. As a result of the lockdown restrictions many premises closed, which meant that water tanks and plumbing systems were going unused. When water is stagnant, the risk of microbiological contamination is increased – and if left untreated, can pose a significant risk to building occupants on their return. Building owners may not be aware that their buildings were at risk – or that biological contamination can be easily treated. To help you explain this to customers and to provide you with more information about how to treat this type of contamination, Richard Crisp took part in a Q&A with Installer, as part of InstallerFESTIVAL.
