Global energy company, Logstor invests in UK expansion plans

LOGSTOR, known in the world of pre-insulated pipe systems for district heating and cooling has announced its expansion plans for the UK energy industry taking its performance and competitiveness to the next level.
With a new sales team in place in the UK, the Danish company is investing in developing its brand in the UK and bringing its expertise to the market, primarily targeting local authorities and housing associations and working with its UK partners such as Vital Energi and E.ON to deliver successful district heating schemes whilst meeting the demand from the emerging district heating industry.
Says Christopher Hill, UK Sales Manager for LOGSTOR: “The UK Government’s decision to back district heating gave LOGSTOR the confidence to move forward with plans to invest in the growing market.
“With district heating now finally being recognised as a technology that can make a significant contribution to the reduction of carbon emissions from the built environment, interest in LOGSTOR’s range of pre-insulated pipe systems is at an all-time high.
“LOGSTOR has already been involved in a number of high-profile systems, notably at the 2014 Commonwealth Games Athletes Village in Glasgow and the new Heathrow Terminal 5 building, in addition to installations in towns and cities throughout the UK.
“LOGSTOR is a technology-led company and believes its expertise and quality products will pave the way for connecting with more customers in the UK.”
In 2013 LOGSTOR was contracted by Vital Energi to supply the 28km network of buried pre-insulated district heating pipes to connect 704 homes in the Commonwealth Games Athlete’s Village in Glasgow, the Sir Chris Hoy Velodrome (formerly the National Indoor Sports Arena and Velodrome) and a 120-bed Care Home to the energy centre.
Vital Energi were commissioned to design, supply and install a community heating system for the 2014 Commonwealth Games Athletes Village, with the new homes being built to achieve “eco homes excellent” standard and deliver a 60 per cent reduction in carbon emissions.
Gary Fielding, Joint Managing Director at Vital Energi explains why they chose LOGSTOR:
“LOGSTOR are renowned for their quality and reliability in the field of district heating, and offer a wide range of underground heating pipe solutions.
“The LOGSTOR pre-insulated pipe system offers high levels of insulation performance and minimal heat loss. LOGSTOR worked in close co-operation with Vital Energi throughout the scheme and despite a very tight timescale maintained a professional approach to deliver this prestigious scheme.”
Concludes Christopher Hill: “District heating will play a pivotal role in the UK’s climate energy strategy and in lowering greenhouse gas emissions and LOGSTOR wants to be at the forefront in delivering a legacy of sustainable energy across the UK.”
