Go on tour

Ecobuild 2014 is returning to London’s ExCeL, and this time it’ll be easier than ever for installers to see the exhibits and attractions that can boost their businesses.
It’s the world’s biggest showcase for sustainability, and the perfect chance for installers to get up close and personal with the latest products on the market. When Ecobuild opens this year (4-6 March), it should be the first date in the diary for those installers who are looking to get ahead of the game.
Installer Tours
Hundreds of exhibitors will be there from the both the UK and abroad – all displaying their latest sustainable, cost-effective products, and offering advice on installation and maintenance.
Some of the big names that installers will be keen to check out include Plumb Center, SIG, Worcester, Bosch Group; Baxi Heating, Rexel, Innasol, Mitsubishi Electric, Viessmann, Zenex Solar, Altecnic and Map Environmental.
But with all this going on in such a huge venue, how do visitors make a plan so they can get the most from their visit? Fortunately, Installer has teamed up with Ecobuild 2014 to offer ‘Installer Tours’.
The tours run three times a day at 10am, 11am and 12pm, and kick off at the Installer stand (N1951). The aim is to give installers a flavour of the show and highlight the areas that are most relevant to them.
Each one lasts for approximately 40 minutes, ensuring the rest of the day is free to visit the show.
The route
Ecobuild 2014 gives visitors the chance to speak directly to manufacturers and suppliers because it’s important to know what technologies are on the market, at what price.
The tours will take installers straight to the people and products they want to see, starting with Practical Installer.
Much larger than a standard exhibit, Practical Installer is a unique ‘working’ showcase, and one of Ecobuild’s most popular attractions. This year, it’ll be split into four areas, focusing on solar, biomass, heat pumps and water efficiency.
Over 15 of the industry’s top suppliers have teamed-up with Plumb and Parts Center to showcase the latest sustainable technologies and talk face-to-face with installers about how to get the most from initiatives like Green Deal and the domestic Renewable Heat Incentive (RHI); so it’s one of the most important places to visit.
As well as Practical Installer, the tours will head to a selection of manufacturer stands, where a company representative will give a short overview of what’s on offer.
Taking the time
Some installers may be reluctant to take a couple of days off work as it means time off the tools, but Ecobuild 2014 will provide opportunities that don’t come along every week.
Last year, exhibitors met 122 new customers on average, meaning that plenty of installers discovered new products and expanded their connections, which could lead to new business.
“We’re delighted to have teamed-up with Installer to offer the tours,” said Alison Jackson, Group Director of Sustainability & Construction, Ecobuild.
“Ecobuild can be a real game changer for installers, and the tours are a great way to ensure they get the most from their visit.”
