In the final installment of this three-part blog series, Redring’s Head of Showers & Water Heating, Richard Braid, discusses an increasingly important benefit of electric showers: phased shutdown.
Focusing on the positives. That’s what we like to do at Redring – we listen to your feedback and apply this into our product development to offer the ultimate electric shower solutions.
Following our focus groups where we brought a range of installers together, we found that you’re looking for a ‘solutions provider’, with durability being a key component to this. In terms of showers, something that can damage performance level is limescale.
As you well know, limescale is a residue that lurks inside water heating systems left behind by hard water – not something you want building up in the unit that’s supposed to be keeping your customers clean. A build up of limescale also means a reduced shower life, and a reduced shower life means a lesser durable product. Hence why we’ve introduced phased shutdown.
Phased shutdown is an anti-scaling technology where the shower will continue to run for another 10 to 15 seconds after the stop button has been pressed. After clearing out any remaining hot water left in the shower, the water that follows post shutdown will become cold. By cooling the heating element in the unit, the tank of heated water is being purged, therefore preventing a build up of limescale both within the element and the showerhead.
Phased shutdown also acts as a safety feature within the shower. Depositing cold water at the end of a shower ensures a cool start for the next user, with no risk from a blast of hot water.
As an installer, you’ll want to assure your customers that you’re fitting a good product with a long life and a continuous performance. Phased shutdown is a beneficial feature that helps achieve this, which is why we’ve incorporated it in our newly launched Glow shower.
Phased shutdown adds value to a product and comes with a higher price tag for end-users, generating more revenue for you, the installer. We strive to offer the best quality solutions in our products and will continue to keep installers at the fore-front of our minds.
