Installer Knowledge and Part G Revisions

Revised thinking

A lack of installer knowledge regarding the revisions to Part G could be putting the public at risk when it comes to scalding, says Steve Mulvany, Scheme Director for Logic Certification.
Minimal industry enforcement is partly to blame for the lack of awareness about the revisions to Part G, as well as regulation ‘grey areas’. Ultimately, however, the responsibility lies at an installer’s door to undertake best practice and help prevent scalding incidents.
Back in April 2010, new and amended requirements, and technical guidance to Part G of the Building Regulations came into force, relating specifically to sanitation, safety and the use of water in buildings.
