Boilers can appear complex and temperamental at times, frustrating for even the most experienced of engineers. The ability to service, maintain and repair heating systems more effectively is a benefit to both installers and their clients.
Providing a swift resolution enhances the customer experience while making engineers even more productive. With this in mind, Navien has developed the Navien Multikit tool which helps keep boilers running efficiently and can significantly reduce unit downtime.
In this article Gavin Edwards, Training Manager for Navien UK, provides a step-by-step guide to using the Navien Multikit, along with its key features and benefits:
Why do I need a Navien Multikit?
With a global reputation for providing heating systems that bring benefits to users – from efficiency to convenience, to being easy to install, service or repair for engineers – Navien considers the whole life of the product, factoring in how to minimise downtime for customers with a boiler fault – but also to help installers deliver great customer service, be more efficient, and improve the bottom line.
The Navien Multikit is the next step in that journey of enhancing user experience, which in turn improves customer retention for your business. Put simply, it is another tool to make your life easier while also keeping your clients happy.
What benefits does it bring?
Navien’s Multikit enables accurate boiler monitoring and diagnosis based on live data. You can use it to check product information, error logs and service history, as well as customise settings according to a user’s needs and their property type. Key functionality includes:
- Easy installation
- Accurate boiler monitoring
- Error logs and service history
- Customisable settings
- Monitoring fuel consumption

Is the Navien Multikit compatible with other Navien products?
The Navien Multikit tool works seamlessly with Navien’s NCB700 ON and NCB500 ON Combi Crossover boilers as well as its entry level NCB300 Combi boiler, plus the LCB700. You can therefore get a lot of versatility out of one Navien Multikit.
How do I get connected?
The Navien Multikit uses a combination of wired and wireless connectivity. The Navien Multikit is connected to the boiler via a cable; but communicates with your phone or handheld device via Bluetooth and is accessed with an app. There are DIP switches on the side of the Navien Multikit which enable the operator to configure country and set the download method for firmware updates. It is extremely important to make sure you set them for the specific model of boiler.
What information can I see on the app?
The Navien Multikit gives you open access to the boiler range, with a depth of data and information you wouldn’t be able to see without it. On the app you can quickly move from the main home screen to job history, boiler information, and error history, plus live monitoring and live operational graph.
What functions can I perform?
Having the instant ability to self-update the new NCB ON range of boilers and seeing the operational conditions after servicing the LCB700 oil boiler are big benefits. Do you need to diagnose a fault? Use the phone in your hand to give you live component feedback. Furthermore, if you really need to fine-tune the heating system’s operations to meet your client’s needs, you can open and modify the system’s operating parameters.
Here is a breakdown of the main functions:
Component testing – Carry out component tests to quickly diagnose faults. Simply access the component test function on the app and see immediate results.
Data logging – Users can perform data logging via the app, sharing it with Navien Technical Support. The support team in turn can provide you with precise and efficient answers.
Boiler firmware updates – The app checks the unit’s firmware and downloads the latest version from the Navien server onto your device. You can then easily transfer the downloaded firmware will be then to the toolkit, which in turn sends it to the boiler.
How does Navien support the Navien Multikit?
Navien offers nationwide training to underpin all of its products. Navien firmly believes in supporting its product offering with training and technology – the Navien Multikit is the latest element in this strategy, making installer’s jobs easier both during and after installation.
What else is Navien doing to make installers’ lives easier?
Navien UK has launched a revolutionary new technology which uses artificial intelligence to help homeowners utilise their heating system more efficiently. Navien ON AI is designed to work with the NCB ON range of Combi Crossover boilers, as well as Navien’s Smart Plus controllers to create a network of integrated heating controls throughout the home. More on ON AI can be found here.
