Ideal Heating further strengthens its Installer Training Offer

In the heating industry, every boiler and every heat pump is different. Regardless of the system they’re working with, it’s crucial installers have access to resources that help them work efficiently and ensure their customers receive the highest quality of service.

Ideal Heating recognises how crucial this is. Its Expert Academy has been designed to offer installers access to a range of courses, from learning how to become a specialist in Ideal’s own products, to helping them adapt to changing industry regulations.

A key goal of Ideal’s Expert Academy is making training accessible to everyone. As a result, the heating manufacturer has invested heavily in the area including expanding its training offering to cover both in-person and online courses.

In-person training is available across the UK and delivered through dedicated roadshows and sessions at one of Ideal’s many specialist accredited training centres. Each venue has purpose-designed facilities with tools and equipment available for installers to gain both a theoretical understanding and hands-on experience of the products.

In September 2020, Ideal Heating also launched a digital training platform for its Expert Academy. Through the portal, installers have access to a series of free courses, delivered live in a virtual classroom setting by an accredited trainer, giving installers the opportunity to ask questions from the comfort of their own home.

The online platform has helped make learning more accessible, particularly during the pandemic. The on-demand element means installers can also access a range of handy video content, tips and guides, anytime, anywhere – including when troubleshooting on the job.

Andrew Johnson, Training Director at Ideal Heating, said: “We’re passionate about helping installers provide the highest standards of service to their customers. Our training is very hands-on, designed to deliver all the skills and knowledge installers need to work with our domestic and commercial product ranges more efficiently.”

Ideal has also been expanding its range of courses for installers including heat pump qualifications and product training, which are seeing a growing demand as increasing numbers of customers are keen to implement greener alternatives within their housing.

Andrew added: “Through our Expert Academy we can gain insight into who’s installing our products, their skillsets and what interests them. We use this information to tailor the way we work with our installers, ensuring we’re meeting demand for training on the latest heating technologies.

“For example, we’ve seen a growing interest in the number of installers looking for the best ways to advise and educate their own customers on more sustainable heating alternatives. We’re committed upskilling our loyal installers and helping them future-proof their businesses as we adapt and diversify our own to meet net zero targets. The Expert Academy will have a huge part to play in delivering against that commitment, and in ensuring that our installer base is ready to meet the changes that are coming, the recent launch of our heat pump training courses is just the first step towards this.”
