Rural installers across the country are being converted to ground source thanks to Kensa’s installer roadshow, which engaged with over 250 MCS and Oftec installers over an 18 date UK tour in 2014.
Kensa’s Roadshow events, which will continue again in March 2015, aim to dispel myths about renewable heating technologies, helping heating and plumbing engineers to unearth the significant commercial opportunities available through ground source heat pump systems.
Kensa’s Technical Director Guy Cashmore said:
“We strategically planned this roadshow to visit areas that we know have the right geology for ground source technology and a high number of off-gas properties. We could therefore confidently show installers that ground source heat pumps offer a lucrative opportunity along with the added customer incentive presented by the RHI.”
Supported by the Department of Energy and Climate Change (DECC) and NAPIT, the Roadshow events were well timed with the Government’s recent launch of the Domestic Renewable Heat Incentive (RHI), which has ensured that ground source heat pumps are more financially viable than ever before. With an expected payback of around five years for the average domestic end user and seven years of income through the RHI plus fuel cost savings, the market for ground source heat pumps is growing steadily.
Feedback shows that Kensa’s UK tour has been well received by installers so far.
Jody Hammond, an installer from Norwich said:
“It was great to be able to attend an event specifically about ground source heat pumps actually in my area. I’m a one man band and am fairly new to the technology, so appreciate having an expert company like Kensa to call when I want advice or have questions. I also appreciate the fact that they are the only British manufacturer of this technology.”
John Carlisle, an installer from Lincoln said:
“I’m glad I went along to the event – it was a good chance to look at the heat pump in the flesh. I know that digging trenches or drilling boreholes can put people off installing ground source heat pumps, but by partnering with local drillers or ground workers you can easily get the job done. Kensa has a network that can help with this and their Umbrella scheme will also allow me achieve the required MCS standards without the hassle, so I think that’s a good way forward.”
Kensa also used the events as a platform to launch its new Underground Network of installers of ground source heat pumps, which allows installers to tap into ongoing training, support and qualified new business leads, whilst providing end users with a platform to engage with Kensa approved installers.
