New season, new faces – part 2

New season, new faces – part 2

Welcome to the Scouting Report – the section of InstallerLEAGUE where we run the rule over who’s performing and who’s not to try and help you identify the players that could win (or lose) you the league trophy, a home entertainment system or tickets to the FA Cup Final.
In the second of our instalments looking at the new arrivals in the Prem, we bring you another batch of players who will be aiming to set the league alight. The question is will they be more Marlet than Mata?
CF – Ricky van Wolfswinkel    £7 million
Amusingly named he may be, but the Dutch striker’s ability in front of goal has resulted in several Premiership clubs showing an interest in him. He has scored 14 goals in each of his two seasons at Sporting Lisbon, but can we expect more in a Norwich team where last season’s top scorer – Grant Holt – only netted eight?
CF – Stefan Jovetic     £9.5 million
Jovetic (alongside fellow newcomer Alvaro Negredo) will be expected to fill the goal void left by Tevez and Balotelli. He certainly troubled England in the World Cup qualifier and has been scoring at nearly a goal every other game for Fiorentina in recent seasons. The only issue will be how much game time he actually gets in a very competitive squad.
MF – Paulinho         £7 million
Even after a barnstorming summer for the Brazilian national team, Paulinho could struggle to cement a starting place in the heavily-congested Spurs midfield ahead of the likes of Parker, Dembele and Sandro. Touted as an ‘all-action’ player in Brazil, his creativity should make him a handy points-scorer.
MF – Emanuele Giaccherini    £7 million
Traditionally, the Premier League has not been a happy place for the majority of Italian imports (see Alberto Aquilani) but, according to his manager, Giaccherini is set to take England by storm. Di Canio is also confident he can supply goals for Sunderland – despite only scoring 4 in 40 league appearances for Juventus.
