I’m sure we can all agree that Gas Safety Week plays a vital role in helping to educate consumers in gas safety and the importance of using fully qualified installers. However, with energy efficiency appearing on the news agenda regularly, it is important that we work together year-round to continually raise awareness of gas safety and the potential consequences of using unqualified installers.
With increasing numbers of homeowners concerned by rising energy prices and general living expenses, there is a growing risk that cost-conscious consumers will be encouraged to tackle ‘quick fixes’ themselves or call on the services of so-called ‘cowboy tradesmen’. As an industry we must be even more vigilant, maintaining high standards of professionalism, safety and quality so that important messages around the dangers of using qualified installers are not forgotten.
