Ideal Boilers launches new PRT programmable room thermostat, designed for the social housing sector

Ideal Boilers announced the launch of the new PRT new programmable room thermostat, designed specifically for the social housing sector with input from tenants themselves.
The Halo Lite OpenTherm Wired Combi has been launched in response to a need for a cost-effective solution to Boiler Plus legislation, while also offering tenants a simple and easy-to-use heating control.
Halo Lite is a wall mounted PRT that requires minimal maintenance and uses low voltage wiring, which eliminates the need for batteries.
The use of OpenTherm technology means that Halo Lite functions seamlessly with Ideal Logic combi boilers and provides enhanced load compensation – one of the additional energy efficiency options set out in the Boiler Plus regulations.
Tenants also benefit from an easy and intuitive design featuring a backlit colour screen with large text and icons, and simple dial and button controls. The device was tested with social housing tenants, who provided feedback on their experience of using the device to inform the development process.
Halo Lite, which is available now through the merchant supply chain, also provides landlords with greater levels of control through PIN-protected settings, such as a service timer function and upper and lower temperature control.
Lizzie Wilkinson, head of domestic product management at Ideal Boilers, said: “We’ve developed a strong customer base within the social housing sector, which is why it was essential that our controls offering included a product specifically tailored to the needs of landlords and tenants.
“Many social housing tenants are elderly or vulnerable and require the appliances within their home to be reliable and easy-to-use. Meanwhile, landlords are under increased scrutiny to ensure that heating systems within their properties are compliant with energy efficiency legislation.
“All Logic combi boilers already exceed the 92 per cent efficiency requirement set out by Boiler Plus legislation and Halo Lite now offers the social housing market a compliant and affordable heating control solution.”
Since its formation in 1906, Ideal Boilers has drawn on its history of providing quality boilers and has built a reputation for both reliability and innovation. The business has also invested in the formation of a dedicated Internet of Things (IoT) division, which specialises in developing products at the forefront of heating control technology.
Halo Lite is the first in a range of Halo products to be released throughout 2019. To find out more, please visit:  https://idealboilers.com/social-housing/products/halo-lite
