Aico’s recently launched range of quality, cost-effective Lithium battery powered Carbon Monoxide (CO) alarms have now been tested and approved to BS EN 50291-2:2010 and are suitable for use in recreational vehicles and craft, including caravans and boats.
The new Aico range has been designed with sealed in Lithium batteries, overcoming the problem of battery removal. The battery unit is not only tamper proof, but being Lithium (rather than standard AA batteries), cannot be used to replace batteries in other household devices.
The alarms benefit from the proven CO sensor used across all Aico CO alarms, which is pre-calibrated and tested in CO gas to ensure accuracy. Ease of installation and use have also been important considerations in their design, with numerous fixing options for ceiling or wall mounting and an easy to use large Test button to make testing the alarm easier than ever before. The alarms themselves are compact and sleek, making them ideal for recreational vehicles and craft of all sizes.
The new Aico CO alarms come in three versions: standard model, premium model with digital display and RadioLINK Professional model, which can be interconnected with other Aico CO alarms to improve audibility if an alarm is triggered – if one sounds, they all sound.
All models react to dangerous levels of CO by sounding the alarm and flashing the red alarm light at a rate relevant to the CO level detected. With the digital display model, more detailed information and instruction messages are displayed, including CO level, status messages and icons. When lower levels of CO are detected, the alarm will display VENTILATE; when higher levels are present, EVACUATE is displayed to inform the user of the action to take.
The premium model has the facility to be upgraded at any time to incorporate Aico’s RadioLINK Professional wire-free alarm interconnection, through the simple addition of a RadioLINK plug-in module. A further model with built-in RadioLINK module is also available as part of the new range.
Other features of note include a pre-alarm light for early warning of CO, a memory feature which enables the user to tell if CO has been detected during a period of absence and an end of life indicator.
