Travis Perkins, supplier of building and construction materials, has announced that it will open a new Regional Distribution Centre (RDC) in Cardiff. The investment supports the strategy of making its market-leading service available to even more customers, from the larger contractors down to the smaller tradesmen, and will include unrivalled product availability and reduced delivery lead times.
The seven acre facility will serve a large proportion of the South West and Wales, connecting a sixth of the entire
Travis Perkins merchant branch network with the widest range of heavy-side materials in the market.
Due to open in the second quarter of 2014, the Cardiff RDC will operate 24 hours a day and serve 94 Travis Perkins branches. Once fully operational, the facility will also support businesses in the wider Travis Perkins Group, and will deliver products directly to online customers eventually. The merchant’s investment in the locality is also expected to create up to 90 jobs.
