Heating technology manufacturer Vaillant has unveiled its brand-new range of air to water heat pumps. The newly launched aroTHERM range expands Vaillant’s existing product offering in the heat pumps sector to provide a solution that facilitates simple and inexpensive entry into the utilisation of renewable energy. The product can be used in both new and existing buildings, and can work as a standalone technology or integrated into a hybrid system.
Its timely release coincides with the government’s announcement of the domestic RHI tariffs for renewable technologies. Under the new tariffs, aroTHERM has an estimated payback of four years.
“The new aroTHERM system offers our customers an air to water heat pump which is attractively priced but still meets all of Vaillant’s high quality standards,” explains Mark Derbyshire, commercial director at Vaillant. “All of the development work was carried out at Vaillant, as was the production of the new heat pump system.”
The compact in size (H973mm x D463mm x W1103mm) single fan unit gives installers flexibility when siting the pump and can fit under a standard window if required. The refrigerant circuit within the heat pump is hermetically-sealed, therefore installers do not require a certificate of proficiency for the handling of coolants or cost-intensive special tools.
System kits and accessories are available, including a back-up heater, a wall-hung 40 litre buffer tank, and a heat exchange module, making aroTHERM straightforward to specify, order, and install. Both standalone and hybrid systems include the weather compensated control unit VRC470 as standard, which helps to get the highest possible efficiency levels out of your system.
The flexibility of aroTHERM means that it can function as a standalone system in new buildings, or can allow homeowners to create a whole house hybrid solution that works in partnership with existing heat generators. aroTHERM is compatible with the entire range of Vaillant ecoTEC boilers. When using the low voltage eBUS connection, both the heat pump and boiler can be modulated to meet specific heating requirements, ensuring that just the right amount of energy is used and therefore giving improved performance.
aroTHERM is also compatible with a wide range of third-party gas, LPG and oil boilers, allowing the heat pump to be easily retrofitted with existing heating systems to provide efficiency benefits. aroTHERM is therefore a practical means of easing householders into renewables with the flexible back-up of a traditional heating solution.
Mark adds: “aroTHERM works perfectly and seamlessly in conjunction with an existing heat generator. In return for comparatively low investment costs, owners can massively increase the amount of renewable energy that they use for heating. And, they also ease the burden on the environment at the same time.”
The control unit further ensures that the system provides significant carbon and running cost savings by selecting the most cost-effective fuel to use based on energy tariffs. The intelligent heating control selects the lowest cost energy source, and a unique triVAl control system means three possible energy tariffs can be entered. In warm periods, the new heat pump provides additional comfort in a cost-effective and environmentally friendly way with its active cooling function.
The new aroTHERM air to water heat pump is available in two outputs: 8kW and 11kW (A7/W35).
