Patients at Northampton General Hospital are a whole lot cooler, thanks to a donation of 50 fans from Plumb and Parts Center.
With the UK sweltering in the longest heat wave for seven years, Northampton General badly needed help keeping their patients cool.
Luckily a sharp-eyed Plumb and Parts Center manager saw an appeal on Facebook and offered to help.
“The ladies and gents at the hospital were delighted,” said Steve Barron, Area Sales Manager for East Midlands, who helped organise the donation. “Our Sourcing Manager, Dennis Grogan, saw a post on Facebook about the hospital looking for donations for fans, and arranged with senior management for 50 to be donated, free of charge.”
Then Lee Watson – Key Accounts Manager for East Midlands – got in touch with his contact at the hospital, despite being on holiday at the time, and told him the fans were on the way.
All that was left was for the Leicester Branch to make the delivery the very next day, much to the delight of the hospital staff.
“They said they couldn’t believe anyone would give goods away for free in this economy,” said Steve, “but we had the products to help and were delighted to donate the fans to those who really needed them.”
“We were desperate for fans,” said Peter Jones, BMS/Energy Technician at Northampton General Hospital. “We’d been hunting everywhere but had exhausted our usual supplies.
“At first we needed them for our children’s ward but then we needed them for the elderly as well, as these are the patients that are most affected by the hot weather.
“Then Lee from Plumb and Parts Center phoned out of the blue and said they’d seen an appeal, it might have been from one of the children’s parents. They delivered the fans for free, which were gratefully received.
“It’s safe to say we’re all fans of Plumb and Parts Center now.” Peter added.
