The UK’s weather has been increasingly unpredictable in recent years, with 2013 bringing us snow in the springtime followed by a scorching summer. The freezing winters seen in recent years could well be back again this season, and as temperatures drop, installers may want to offer their customers guidance about how best to protect a property against the rigours of a hard winter.
Just as it’s common practice to ensure a vehicle is protected with antifreeze each winter, it makes huge sense to do the same for properties, particularly in the areas of the country which experience the lowest temperatures during the winter months. Frozen pipes can split and cause expensive flood damage to properties when the thaw sets in. Properties which are unoccupied or under construction, where the heating is not being used over the winter, are at a higher risk of frozen pipework.
