Plumber Mark Tiff is asking the installer community on Instagram if they agree with his take on what he describes as “the biggest debate in plumbing” – do you fit the bung on the inside or the outside of the kitchen waste trap?
At the time of writing, the poll Mark is running is on 72% for the outside and 28% saying inside. Todd Glister, @dadplumb, has responded saying: “I remember starting this debate all those years ago and i still stick to my answer which is neither of them two, it’s sticking it in the bottom of the spigot like the manufacturers’ instructions tell you as that’s how i’ve been taught as an engineer.”
Robert @pointy_plumber has strong words for those opting for the inside: “Putting the Bong on the inside is psychopath behaviour”.
Shane @shanetheplumb says: “On the outside, because you can actually see it in the future. Imagine going to a job, not checking the spigot and connecting up a washing machine… that’s a call back you don’t wanna be getting! Also the caps are great to keeping in your toolbag for capping gas pipes or any other pipes to stop crap from going down them when you have an open end 🤌🏼”
