Quinn donation helps fuel Fochriw

A donation of £1,000 from Quinn Radiators in Newport is helping to raise even more money for a South Wales mining village as part of a European regeneration project.

The Mid-Glamorgan village of Fochriw is currently part of the arbed 2 ERDF* scheme, a flagship £45m project aimed at tackling fuel poverty and providing social, economic and environmental benefits to communities where they are most needed.
Quinn’s donation has sponsored the installation of photovoltaic (solar) panels onto the roof of Fochriw village hall and community centre, which will reduce energy costs for the groups which use the centre and also raise awareness of energy efficiency in the village. Then, by selling the excess energy generated back to the National Grid, the village aims to raise further funds for other community improvement projects in the area.
Rhys Morgan, Senior Specification Manager at Quinn, commented: “With energy efficiency now absolutely crucial to our business, and with Fochriw being local to our base in Newport, it was a natural choice for Quinn to support this valuable initiative. One of the main aims of arbed 2 ERDF is to provide advice and energy-saving solutions which save homeowners money, so we were delighted to get involved in installing a source of renewable power to the village which will help contribute to other exciting projects in Fochriw in the future.”
