By joining the 33,000-strong network of STEM Ambassadors you can volunteer in a way that suits you, it could be online or in person, in schools, colleges or community groups, by supporting lessons or extra-curricular activities and working with young people or their educators.
There are a wide range of both virtual and face-to-face activities to get involved in and Ambassadors can choose what to take part in, based on their interests and availability. All that is required is undertake at least one activity per year.
Training and support are provided, along with a free DBS check, and local STEM Ambassador Hubs are available to help Ambassadors and give them ideas.
For employers looking to engage with careers promotion activity, encouraging staff of all ages to volunteer as Ambassadors is a great way to not only motivate employees, but also improve local recruitment and raise your profile.
Through the ‘Industry into Education’ and ‘Mentor Me’ programmes, TESP has already started to gather volunteers who are willing to inspire the next generation of electrical professionals. Now via its partnership with the STEM network, TESP hopes to enrol ambassadors into the official STEM network and bring the electrotechnical industry into schools and colleges around the UK.
