Bosch Commercial & Industrial launches Flow 8500 HIU

Bosch Commercial & Industrial has launched its latest indirect heat interface unit (HIU), the Flow 8500.

The new unit is the company’s latest indirect HIU to be tested and registered under the BESA 2023 regime which was launched last year, assisting in shaping the future of heat networks.

With the UK continuing down its long journey to net zero 2025, the use of heat networks is regularly floated as one of the best ways to help decarbonise heat in multi-storey, communal and new build domestic properties. BESA 2023 was introduced to help improve the performance of HIUs to make this more a reality – and ultimately raise the bar for higher performance from manufacturer products.

The Flow 8500 indirect HIU has been developed with the new test regulation in mind, representing the next generation of HIUs for both Bosch Commercial & Industrial, and the wider adoption of energy-efficient heat networks.

For specifiers, benefits of choosing a Flow 8500 include:

  • Improved domestic hot water (DHW) response time

  • Improved volume weighted average return temperature (VWART) – one of the most often used metric under BESA 2023New precision temperature sensors ensuring high performance, accurate control and network efficiency

  • Upgraded valve control to meet the new 0.5kW heating test

Tom Jallands, a Product Engineer at Bosch Commercial & Industrial, said: “The Flow 8500 is assembled to the highest quality and utilises state-of-the-art manufacturing controls and assurance to ensure peace of mind for customers and residents.”

Pete Mills, Commercial & Technical Operations Manager for Bosch Commercial & Industrial, said: “The tougher targets of the BESA 2023 HIU Test Regime represent a real step forward for heat network efficiency. Any measures that can increase network efficiency and improve consumer comfort will be in demand and it is against this backdrop that we are so proud to announce the successful registration of our complete Flow 8500 HIU range.”
