The BMA’s Bathroom Zone set to highlight vital issues at InstallerSHOW

With InstallerSHOW 2023 taking place THIS WEEK, Tom Reynolds, Chief Executive at the Bathroom Manufacturers Association, outlines some of the speaker highlights of their three days of programming for the ‘Bathroom Zone’.

Excitement is certainly building for this year’s InstallerSHOW, and the BMA’s Bathroom Zone will act as a hub for exceptional brands to showcase their products to installers. It’ll also be the place to discuss and learn about the issues and challenges affecting our sector, including our vision for a sustainable future.

We’re confident our programme of topics and speakers will inform the audience and provide installers with an opportunity to put some of that knowledge into practice.

Day one, on Tuesday, 27 June, will be primarily dedicated to how brands, merchants and installers can all innovate to boost business, including the latest bathroom tech, how social media can improve trade, and what to make of e-commerce.

I’ll interview the TV presenter Mark Millar about running his own building firm and becoming one of the most recognisable TV faces regarding home improvement. We’ll discuss what he has learnt about home improvement from years of managing great projects, including the good and bad!

Day two’s programming will focus on how our sector can boost customer satisfaction, including the highlights from our most recent research concentrating on the influence the installer has on consumer bathroom product choices. We’ll also cover dispute resolution and how installers, merchants and specifiers ensure products are safe and perform as they should.

The day’s interview will be with George Clarke, the renowned architect, TV presenter, and writer. I’ll delve into George’s career, design principles, views on the skills gap, how we can incorporate sustainability, green technologies and the challenges facing homeowners and our environment. George attracts a large audience, so arrive early for the 1:15 pm start.

The final day will be about sustainability and decarbonisation as part of our regular Sustainability Forum, with a variety of speakers all addressing this most crucial topic and how installers are part of the solution.

Our panel debate includes Rachel Gray from WRAP, Kathryn Rathouse, Director, KR Social Research and Ashley Shires, UK Managing Director, Siamp. We’ll discuss the simple steps to make all-important behaviour change easy for consumers, including recycling in the bathroom, shower time nudges, and getting ‘Lavvy Savvy’.

On top of all this excitement – attendees also have an exclusive chance to gain valuable meet-and-greet opportunities and to play our ‘Hook-a-Duck’ challenge to win prizes from our members.

With environmental preservation as one of our key priorities, along with creativity and quality craftsmanship – we need the support and expertise from skilled installers to initiate lasting change.

So, with all this in mind and much more to be discussed, the Bathroom Zone promises to be a must-attend event for installers across the UK. With exceptional brands showing off their products, engaging discussions about how to encourage innovation and delight customers, and an in-depth look at sustainability, there’s sure to be something for everyone.
